Scout and
Parents;
I wanted to touch base with all of you about the summer trip. All plans have
been made with room for changes as things come about. The plans are to meet at
the Act.Ctr. at 8:00 AM on the 23rd and pack so we can be on the road by 9:00
am. We are looking at a 7 hour drive to our camp site. We will stop for lunch
along the way.
All meals will be prepared in the camp site with the help from everyone. A
duty roster will be made so that all will know what and when they have duty.
Sunday the plan is to drive into D.C. to watch a Washington National ball
game, then return to camp for supper. Lunch will be eaten before we leave for
the game. If you want any snacks at the game please bring money.
Both Monday and Tuesday are scheduled for the National Jamboree. Bag lunches
will be prepared before departure. Our plans are to spend as much time there as
possible. Once again if you want any souvenirs please bring money.
Wednesday has been set aside to be a wash day. This way you do not have to
pack as much.
We will vist the aviation museum on Thursday . This is on the base we are
staying on. That afternoon we will return to D.C. for a Marine Corp. parade.
Friday is set aside to finish seeing what we have missed and also do some
swimming. Friday night we will go out to eat .
Saturday we will pack up and head home.
I have suggested that gear be packed in a plastic locker for easy transport
and weather safe. These can be found at Space-Savers on Floral Pkwy across the
street from Pier One.Those that can be locked may be best.
The following is a suggested list of gear:
sleeping bag and pad

bug spray
flash light (extra batteries)
4 shorts
4 shirts (scout tees if possible)
