Dear Parents and Leaders,

We had a very successful meeting on the 3rd and I want to say thank you to those that were able to attend and to let everyone know about the results

We were able to reorganize the leadership of the troop with the help of not only the leaders but also some parents that have stepped forward to assist. There are now ten different committees to help us produce a quality program for the scouts. Even though we have volunteers for these committees there is always a place for more assistants. If you were unable to attend the meeting and would still like to help please let me know.

The following is a list of the new committees and their members, for each one there is chairman to oversee and a co-chair for backup. Scouts will be assigned to some of the committees to give a scouts input.

Advancement: (chair) Paul Canady, (co) Jim Phillips, Gerald Hansen, Paul Mason, Ron

Speck, Wayne Currie, and any Eagle Scout.

High Adventure: (chair) David Woodruff, (co) Aaron Hammond, and all Life Scouts

Service Projects: (chair) Keith Edwards, (co) Gerald Hansen, and all Star Scouts

                         Mason, and Aaron Hammond

Record Keeping: (chair) Chris Swan, (co) Beth Whitley, Deborah Phillips, and the Scribe

Fund Raising: (chair) Beth Whitley, (co) James Gibson, Dana Page, and Paul Mason

Web site: Chris Swan and the ASPL

Quartermaster: (chair) Gerald Hansen, (co) Deborah Phillips, and the Quartermasters

Troop Activities: (chair) Dana Page, (co) Deanna Plocki, and the PLs.

Troop Committee Chairman is still Lou Leiner with Tim Finnin as the Co-Chair. I will assist all committees when needed.

This group did make one big decisions Monday night, they have decided to have the Troop participate in the Council’s Capital Camp Campaign. This campaign is to help the Council raise 5.5 million dollars over the next 3 years for camp and service center improvements. Our part as a troop is to commit ourselves to contribute at least $3,000.00 during this time. To do this each scout will need to commit to at least $50 a year over the next 3 years. We will also have fundraisers to help offset this contribution. If anyone knows of a company that would like to help, have them give the money to the troop so that we can be sure to get the credit. Beth Whitley has volunteered to head this up within the troop, so if you have any questions please feel free to contact her or myself. This commitment is not only for the scouts but for the adult leaders as well. With this contribution a plaque with the troop name and charter organization will be placed on a “Wall of Honor” in the Training Center at Bowers.

I would like to thank all of you for your support to the troop and me not only financially but also for your time. Once again anyone wishing to help on any of the committees formed please contact me at 470-0826, 762-4380, or by e-mail at woodybsa19@aol.com or david.woodruff@stocksupply.com. Hope to hear from you soon.

                                                                          Sincerely,

                                                                    David Woodruff
